These high carbon steel tools are designed to split trunks with minimum residual damage.  The shape of the head and the symmetrical cutting blades provide the clearance and cutting actions necessary to achieve clean splits.  This is the professional grade 15/16" wide blades open to 1 1/4", 8 1/4" overall length.
