This is a Coast Redwood that was collected. It has adjusted exceptionally well to the potted culture of bonsai. The Redwoods are the tallest trees and amoung the oldest on earth, passing 2,000 years and 360 feet in height. They once populated almost every region on earth, but now have retreated in their native habit to a small strip along the Northern coast of California. The Redwood can survive in most every location, but needs protection from freezing and extended periods over 100 degrees. Water and soil are most important in their well being as a bonsai subject. This collected redwood bonsai tree has a nice root over rock style that shows the massive roots with their fisured old bark that shows the age well. It is 12" tall and 12" wide, with a base of 5" and trunk at the first branch of 1 3/4". Planted in a unglazed rectanular 6x4 1/2" Japanese bonsai pot. The bonsai tree is planted in akadama and the bonsai in the photos is the one you will get including the pot.
